TIPS ON how to prepare for YOUR SESSION

It’s important that your photos not only reflect who you are, but that you are comfortable when having them taken. Follow these simple recommendations to make sure that you are prepared for your session.

What should you wear?

1) Solid colors work best but please make sure that color contrast is kept to a minimum. Keep clothing patterns simple and avoid graphic tees because they can be dated. We want to focus on you and not your clothing.

2) This can be an easy way to show off your culture or family traditions.

3) Stick with clothes that you already own and are comfortable in.

4) Make sure that your clothing works in a variety of poses: standing, kneeling, sitting for example. Also try to lean toward the modest side because you want you grandma to be proud of your pictures!

5) Bring several changes of clothes and styles. Please use hangers.

Glasses and accessories

6) If you wear glasses everyday, then wear them. If you can have your optometrist remove the lenses for the session, that would be helpful to reduce glare.

7) If you have a hobby or specific interests, bring things that represent them such as instruments, sport equipment, books, etc.

8) Keep jewelry to a minimum.

General hygiene and appearance tips

9) Apply makeup as you normally do every day. Avoid too much lip gloss and sparkles.

10) Guys, it is recommended that you be cleanly shaved and if you have a beard or mustache, it should be trimmed. Girls please shave under your arms the day of the photo session.

11) Girls, make sure that if you wear nail polish that the polish is intact and guys make sure that your fingernails are clean.

Family portraits and engagement shoots

12) For family and couple pictures, it always works best if you coordinate clothing. Tops and shirts should be lighter in color than pants and skirts. Coordinating colors also is recommended such as white shirts and blue jeans.
